Craig Brown - ”Part One: Cheese Bun”
Thursday Aug 24, 2023
Thursday Aug 24, 2023
Singer/songwriter Craig Brown visits the upstairs of Outer Limits for a laid back conversation with Chad and Jeff about touring, guitar playing, influences, and his previous musical exploits in bands like Terrible Twos, Liquor Store, and the Kelly Jean Caldwell. Craig is the lead singer/guitarist of the Craig Brown Band, and they recently finished their second-full length, Let's Never Leave This Filthy World, which is set to be released before the end of the summer.
But, this being the summertime, it was considerably hot up there and it wound up frying our laptop a couple different times during the recording. So, we wrapped up THIS chat before we EVEN got the opportunity to ask, in detail, about Craig's new album. So, expect THAT in part two. Nevertheless, we hope you enjoy THIS conversation, in which we talk about cheese buns, rock pants, and leaving your shoes behind while on the road.

On this week's episode, Chad and Jeff bravely welcomed two members of The Cult of Spaceskull, including their ostensible leader, The Red Witch, and one of her minions, Cassidy Scum. They share some details about their "blood cult," as well as attempt to initiate one of the podcast's hosts in the middle of the recording, but they also reveal how they are actually from the future, and that they chose to make and perform music as a means of attracting/boosting membership.
The Cult of Spaceskull can be seen next Saturday, August 19, at Ride It Sculpture Park, with Killing Pixies, Low Lives in High Places, and Burn Maralago.

”Welcome...” - Paige & Ray from ECK!
Thursday Jul 27, 2023
Thursday Jul 27, 2023
Jeff and Chad welcome Ray and Paige, who comprise half of the (newish) post-punk/indie-rock (Christian rock?) band ECK!
Eck is a band that John Szymanski (our podcast landlord) started during the quarantine days, initially with guitarist Ray Thompson. They eventually added drummer Brandon Moss and then steadily recorded their debut album Behold...ECK..., inside the Outer Limits Lounge. Paige Hugelet joined on bass in time for the band's album release party, more than a year ago. Today, we're talking to Paige and Ray about the origin of ECK, as well as their new/forthcoming (soon-to-be-released) second album. We also force Ray, literally, to reveal his desert island album picks!

”If all you’ve got is secrets--whaddya got?” - Jonathan Weier
Thursday Jul 20, 2023
Thursday Jul 20, 2023
This week, Chad and Jeff have a candid chat with Jonathan Weier: musician, lyricist/singer, intermittent provocateur, occassional-pot-hole-fixer and all-in-all supporter of the arts, local music, and all the various creative inhabitants of Hamtramck, (and the greater Detroit area). If that run-on sentence was enough to entice you, please press play.
We discuss Weier's previous work, including the indie-band Dead Bodies, a project he played with Adam Cox and Nic Childers. We also discuss Weier's time during the quarantine days of the recent pandemic, when he started up a talk show and an alter ego known as Bahama Jon.
Listen further for Jon's reverence for the annual Hamtramck Labor Day Festival and his plans for a special birthday party for Hamtramck regular Steve-O!
